Join our Board of Directors
The Sexual Violence Resource Center of the Bluegrass (SVRC) is seeking dedicated community leaders to serve on our Board of Directors. Our board guides the strategic direction of a growing organization that serves survivors of sexual violence across 17 counties in central and eastern Kentucky.
We are specifically looking for professionals with business, financial, legal, marketing, and philanthropic expertise who are ready to contribute their skills to a mission-driven organization and who are deeply connected to the communities we serve.
Our Service Area
SVRC serves survivors across 17 counties throughout the Bluegrass region:
Anderson • Bourbon • Boyle • Clark • Estill • Fayette • Franklin • Garrard • Harrison • Jessamine • Lincoln • Madison • Mercer • Nicholas • Powell • Scott • Woodford
We are especially interested in recruiting board members who live or work outside of Fayette County, so that our leadership reflects the full breadth of the region we serve.
About SVRC
The Sexual Violence Resource Center of the Bluegrass, originally founded in 1977 as the Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center, was established with a commitment to supporting individuals across Kentucky who have been impacted by sexual assault. Over the past 49 years, our organization has continually strengthened and expanded its mission to meet the evolving needs of survivors in our community. Today, we provide comprehensive, no‑cost services including therapy, crisis intervention, legal and medical advocacy, education, and community outreach. Since July 2025, we have served over 750 survivors across our 17 counties.
As we look toward the future, we are prioritizing deeper engagement within our rural communities. Although we have served these areas for many years, we are now taking more intentional steps to ensure that our presence is visible, accessible, and responsive in all 17 counties within our service region. Our ongoing goal is to broaden and enhance our services so that every survivor in our region has access to the support, empowerment, and resources they deserve.
Expertise We’re Seeking
Strong nonprofit boards are built on diverse professional skills. We are actively recruiting candidates with backgrounds in:
• Business & Organizational Leadership: strategic planning, operations, executive experience
• Finance & Accounting: financial oversight, audit experience, investment management
• Legal: nonprofit law, employment law, compliance, risk management
• Marketing & Communications: brand strategy, public relations, digital media
• Philanthropy & Fundraising: donor relations, grant-making, development strategy
• Community Connections: civic leadership, established networks across our 17-county region
You do not need a background in sexual violence or survivor services to serve effectively on our board. We welcome professionals from any sector who are committed to our mission and ready to contribute their expertise.
